Contrast enhanced imaging features of liver metastasis from a meningeal solitary fibrous tumor: a case report

Abstract: A solitary fibrous tumor seldom originates from the meninges, and the accuracy of imaging modalities in the diagnosis of meningeal SFT metastasisis is perlexing. Contrast enhanced imaging modalities, such as contrast enhanced ultrasound and contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging are valuable in the differential diagnosis of hepatic neoplasms. This case report demonstrated the contrast enhanced ultrasound and enhanced magnetic resonance imaging features of one case of liver metastasis from a menigeal soli… Show more

“…There has been a single report on the use of CEUS to characterize a metastatic SFT in the liver from a previous malignant meningeal SFT. 17 This liver SFT had quick entry and slow washout, centripetal homogeneous hyperenhancement, and significant hyperenhancement during the slow washout. These results are similar to the present findings.…”

“…In addition, the tumor of the present patient showed heterogeneous enhancement on CEUS, which could be explained by the alternating zones of hypercellularity and hypocellularity with collagenous fibrous tissues. There has been a single report on the use of CEUS to characterize a metastatic SFT in the liver from a previous malignant meningeal SFT . This liver SFT had quick entry and slow washout, centripetal homogeneous hyperenhancement, and significant hyperenhancement during the slow washout.…”
