Ultrasonic power improvement of flumequine degradation effectiveness in aqueous solution via direct and indirect action of mechanical acoustic wave

Abstract: The current research work aimed to describe the roles of ultrasonic power under sono-Fenton process in the degradation of flumequine (FLU) in water. For this purpose, the effects of some parameters including temperature, ferrous ion concentration, chemical oxidant concentration (SO and Cl) and the initial pH value of the reaction kinetics were investigated. Results showed that the degradation of FLU antibiotic was accelerated by ultrasonic irradiation and the presence of an inorganic oxidant. The sono-generati… Show more

“… 8 Harrabi et al found that the degradation of FLU was improved by the presence of hydroxyl radicals and sulfate radicals. 9 A study indicated that the effective removal of flumequine by combined UV/ClO 2 advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). 10 Solis et al found that the enhanced elimination of flumequine in the presence of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and magnetic graphene catalysts.…”

“…The removal of HAs is unfavorable when the concentration of persulfate exceeds a certain range [34,35]. In addition, it has been reported that the number of cavitation bubbles per unit volume in the ultrasonic oxidation system decreases at higher viscosity, which would induce cavitation [36]. Fig.…”

“…Sometimes it is even necessary to use other water treatment methods to achieve better performance and efficiency. As a new star of water treatment technology that has arisen in the past 30 years, advanced oxidation technology has been noticed by workers in the field of water treatment research throughout the world [27]. The treatment of high-concentration organic wastewater and micro-polluted organic matter in the water body by advanced oxidation technology has also become a hot research topic [28,29].…”
