Abstract

The responsibility for both mother and child makes special demands on both the surgeon and gynecologist with respect to traffic accidents as well as life-threatening diseases. With a ratio of 1 : 1000 acute appendicitis is the most common complication during pregnancy, and its course is threatened by early perforation and peritonitis. Although it has not been proved that the prognosis of malign tumors is unfavorable during pregnancy (digestive tract, thyroid gland, Hodgkin's disease) carcinoma of the breast during pregnancy does lead to early metastasis.
