“…7,9,[20][21][22][23][24][25] Based on previous studies, the mean total survival for patients with stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer varied between 15 and 29 months, with a total survival of 20% at 5 years. 18 In the current study, diseasefree survival was better in patients with peritoneal seeding metastasis; however this result was nonsignificant and the overall survival analysis showed no difference among these patients. In contrast, Bacalbasa et al reported a clear difference in disease free-survival and overall survival in favor of the peritoneal seeding liver metastasis group.…”

“…11 This finding is consistent with the current evidence and demonstrates the safety of the procedure performed by a qualified team. 1,17,18 However, life-threatening complications associated with liver resection have been reported; among them, the most frequent was bleeding followed by liver failure. 19 Studies from 2009 onward have demonstrated an improvement in disease-free survival and total survival of patients undergoing hepatic metastasectomy regardless of the types of primary neoplasias.…”

“…The final decision regarding resectability and the goal of achieving <0.5 mm of residual tumor tissue are based on exploration to offer the opportunity to investigate hidden spaces (e.g. posterior aspect of the spleen, lesser sac and posterior margin of the liver and diaphragm) (48)(49)(50)(51). Postoperative management requires a large amount of clinical experience to ensure that patients safely overcome postoperative complications and begin adjuvant chemotherapy within 4 weeks of surgery (52)(53)(54).…”

“…We do not know if there was a collaborative surgical approach with a supramesocolic surgical protocol. There is evidence that a multidisciplinary approach [12] with extensive upper abdominal procedures in experienced centers [13] in ovarian cancer impacts OS. We do not know if the surgery performed by all the teams fulfilled these criteria; therefore, OS is biased again at this point.…”
