HIV risks and needs related to the Sustainable Development Goals among female sex workers who were commercially sexually exploited as children in Lesotho

Abstract: IntroductionSustainable Development Goals (SDGs) about gender equality; decent work; and peace, justice, and strong institutions include a focus on eradicating trafficking and sexual exploitation of and violence against women and children. “…Results were reported as adjusted ORs (aOR) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Multicollinearity of variables included in the multivariate logistic regression model was tested with a variance inflation factor (VIF) [15]. The final model had a mean VIF of 2.7 in risk of ATI and 2.7 in experienced ATI.…”

The importance and seriousness of the problem of AIDS and its growing prevalence among adolescents contributed to the uprising of the "Healthy People by 2010" program, which objectives are to increase the awareness of Iran's students about AIDS.…”

“…a distal exposure) increases the risk of health outcomes. Experiencing physical and sexual violence, 6 mental illness, 7 drug and alcohol use, 8,9 and unintended teenage pregnancy 10 are some examples of the adverse health outcomes that have been associated with early sex work initiation. In addition, the elevated risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly HIV infection, have also been associated with early sex work initiation.…”

“…In addition, the elevated risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly HIV infection, have also been associated with early sex work initiation. 1,9,11 For example, data from Canada demonstrated that in comparison with those who initiated sex work after 18, early initiates were at greater risk for HIV infection (19.7% versus 6.0%), and any STIs either with HIV (33.2% versus 13.3%) or without HIV (15.5% versus 8.6%). 1 In addition to STI vulnerabilities, sexual risks such as condomless sex, 12 inconsistent condom use, 1,2 and less condom negotiation self-efficacy 2 and attempts 4 with their clients have also been frequently reported among FSWs with early sex work debut.…”
