“…Fisetin is a commercially available nutraceutical with anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant, anti‐tumorigenic, anti‐invasive, anti‐angiogenic, anti‐diabetic, neuroprotective and cardioprotective effects (Pal, Pearlman, & Afaq, ). Interestingly, fisetin has an anti‐noroviral activity by inducing cytokines (Seo & Choi, ). Although some of flavonoids show an antiviral effect, a molecular mechanism of their antiviral activity was rarely known.…”

“…However, the phenolic composition and amounts vary between the various fruit types, where cranberries mainly contain A‐type proanthocyanidins. Also, Seo and Choi () showed that pretreatment with fisetin (50 μmol l −1 ), fisetin (100 μmol l −1 ), EGCG (100 μmol l −1 ), quercetin (100 μmol l −1 ), daidzein (50 μmol l −1 ) and ECG (150 μmol l −1 ), five flavonoids, significantly reduced MNV titre by 50·00 ± 7·14 to 60·67 ± 9·26%. Authors attributed the antiviral effects of flavonoids to upregulation of expression of antiviral cytokines (IFN‐α, IFN‐λ and TNF‐α) and interferon‐stimulating genes (Mx and ZAP).…”

“…In a study by Seo and Choi (43), mouse raw 264.7 macrophage cells were treated with five flavonoids including EGCG, quercetin, fisetin, daidzein and ECG. According to this, the release of antiviral agents was regulated up by all flavonoids and neuroviruses were significantly inhibited (43). Polyphenols in olive oil provide bacterial inhibition.…”
