“…Those studies of uncomplicated appendectomies did not reveal any differences in the readmission and complication rates between patients discharged < 7 and < 24 h after surgery. However, according to Frazee et al, 20% of postoperative complications and 9% of readmissions occurred in patients with perforated appendicitis 11 , in spite of the mean LOS being reduced to 2.67 days. Therefore, although outpatient appendectomy has been practiced for several decades, further research is needed to evaluate its safety in patients with complicated forms of AA 26 .…”

“…Studies have shown that perforated appendicitis is one of the most effective risk factors for the development of morbidity after appendectomy (17,18) . In a study, Frazee et al reported total morbidity was 20% after surgery for perforated appendicitis and intraabdominal abscess was the most common cause of morbidity with an incidence of 11 percent (19) . Intraabdominal abscess is the most common complication after perforated appendicitis and occurs in 14-18% of postoperative patients (20) .…”

“…В исследовании R. Frazee и соавт. [25] применение МУР у 55 пациентов с перфоративным аппендицитом снизило продолжительность госпитализации до 2,67 сут, однако у 20% пациентов возникли послеоперационные осложнения, при этом 5 (9%) пациентам потребовалась повторная госпитализация. Ввиду отсутствия группы сравнения результаты расценены авторами как приемлемые.…”
