Validity And Responsiveness Of The Bristol Rheumatoid Arthritis Fatigue Multidimensional Questionnaire (BRAF-MDQ) In A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

Abstract: Objectives: In COPD, disturbed sleep is related to exacerbation frequency, poor quality of life and early mortality. We developed the Manchester Sleep Symptoms Index (MSSI) to assess night-time symptoms and disturbed sleep in COPD. MethOds: Identification of potential items was guided by interviews and focus groups involving COPD patients and age-matched controls. Hierarchical methods and Rasch analysis informed item deletion and development of a unidimensional scale. Internal consistency and test-retest relia… Show more

“…Fatigue of RA patients and healthy controls were evaluated based on BRAF-MDQ and BFI-C after enrollment. 18,23 BRAF-MDQ contains 20 items and encompasses a global score (Score 0-70) as well as physical (Score 0-22), living (Score 0-21), cognitive (Score 0-15), and emotional (Score 0-12) subdomain scores. The higher score indicates a more severe fatigue level.…”

“…Many studies use the 14‐item CFQ draft (score range 0‐42), giving an average global fatigue score in 120 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) of 22 (interquartile range [IQR] 16‐28) . Using the 14‐item CFQ draft with an aggregated fifth response option (score range 0‐56), the overall median fatigue in 51 patients with primary Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) was 37 (IQR ) vs. 28 (IQR ) in 51 control subjects ( P < 0.01) .…”

“…The Bristol Rheumatoid Arthritis Fatigue Multidimensional Questionnaire (BRAF-MDQ) was used to comprehensively assess fatigue and related health domains [26][27][28][29][30]. This 20-item questionnaire encompasses a total score (range, 0-70) as well as physical (range, 0-22), living with fatigue (range, 0-21), cognitive (range, 0-15), and emotional (range, 0-12) subdomain scores.…”

“…A salient attribute of this scale is that it was developed in collaboration with patient research partners [31]. The BRAF-MDQ has been shown to be valid, reliable, and sensitive to change for use in RA clinical research and practice [27,28].…”
