Nano-structured iron-manganese oxides composite was prepared by annealing of natural Mn-rich limonite at different temperatures (500, 600, 700, 800°C). Their SCR performances of NO removal by NH 3 were evaluated, and SEM, TEM, XRD, XRF, BET, XPS, Raman, NH 3 -TPD were utilized to analyze the catalytic mechanism. The results indicated that after annealing at 500°C, the as-prepared iron-manganese oxides exhibited the best SCR performance in NO conversion and N 2 selectivity (over 80%) at the temperature window of 150-300°C. An increase in annealing temperature from 500 to 800°C significantly increased the particle size resulting in the decrease of surface areas, active sites, and then SCR performances. The experimental results suggested the natural Mn-rich limonite was an excellent precursor for preparing iron-manganese oxides and possessed excellent SCR performance of NO removal by NH 3 . This study will provide a novel way for the preparation of SCR catalyst and exploit a new application field for natural limonite.

The Lot Sarcophagus is one of the most relevant funerary sculptures of late antiquity (mid-4th century AC). Some of the remarkable aspects are the following (i) it is still preserved in situ; (ii) most of the carved scenes are rarities or unicum; (iii) not all the sculpture work has been completed, which allows us to analyse the executive process; (iv) many traces of polychromy have remained. This paper is focused on the characterization of the residual polychromy by using in-situ non-invasive techniques. Furthermore, few micro samples were taken, to be analysed in laboratory to study the composition of some deposits and to define if a preparatory layer was present under the coloured layer. The data showed that the very rich polychromy of the Lot Sarcophagus was made of Egyptian blue, yellow ochre, and three different types of red: two inorganics (red ochre and cinnabar), and one organic-based (madder lake). Furthermore, some decorations, completely vanished and no longer visible to the naked eye, have been rediscovered, also providing details on the construction phases. During the project, the 3D model of the sarcophagus was acquired, which afterwards was used to map the results of the diagnostic campaign.

Lateritic topsoils, which are usually removed and stored apart before mining operations take place, play an essential role in the success of post‐mining restoration. They contain elements to recover chemical (organic matter, nutrients) and biological (seed and bud banks, microorganisms) fertility of the soil. Conserving topsoil fertility during storage time is essential for a successful use of topsoil during restoration. In this study, different chemico‐mineralogical properties of a lateritic topsoil from the Goro nickel mine (New Caledonia) were monitored from its original in situ emplacement on the soil profile, immediately after its stockpiling and after 24 months of storage. Our analyses show that topsoil experienced noticeable changes immediately after storage, mostly produced by mixing of different soil profiles. Cation Exchange Capacities and concentrations of most elements did not vary even after 24 months of storage. However, a slight reduction of Ni, Cr, K, Na and of the C:N ratio, and an increase of Ca have been observed. Stockpiling has not affected negatively the chemical fertility of the topsoil, although biological parameters should be considered to have a complete view of stockpiling sustainability.
