200W PEM Fuel Cell Stack with Online Model-Based Monitoring System

Abstract: Abstract. Although various designs have been introduced to improve the performance of a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) stack system, fault conditions, such as drying or flooding, may still occur due to the complexity of the process. The development of a system which can detect these fault conditions is a key to operate PEMFC stack system effectively. In this study, a monitoring system for a 200W commercial PEMFC stack system has been developed by constructing models for determining the flooding and… Show more

“…However, λ cannot be used in the fault diagnosis study because this parameter is not readily available in commercial fuel cells. Furthermore, the PEMFC undergoes drying condition when the water content in the membrane λ drops below 4 [6].…”

“…Hsieh and Huang [ 60 ] developed NI LabVIEW programs to control experiments and generate polarization curves of a planar array micro fuel cell stack. In [ 61 ] a monitoring system based on NI LabVIEW was applied to acquire a 200 W stack voltage and other parameters to feed a PEFC model. Moçotéguy et al [ 62 ] studied the influence of ageing on PEFC stacks with a NI LabVIEW program to monitor the processes.…”
