In this paper experimental and theoretical results are presented. These results show that the distributed amplifiers can be used not only for small signal operations but also for high power applications with a very broadband frequency., The results are verif ied by comparing an analytical model predicted with measurements between .3 to 12 GHz. The simulation uses SPICE 2 program. Finally, in this paper, we show the feasability of the distributed amplifier for power applications.

In this article we will describe a concept that we call active splitting. It is based on an extension of an existing structure. The primary advantages to active splitting are that it provides large frequency bandwidth and cascadability. Additionally, active splitting produces gain rather than loss. This feature allows us to design cells with multiple (more than two) in‐phase outputs and to adjust gain by using bias points on the same coplanar structure. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
