“…4.) Discussion Although 125 I brachytherapy has been successfully applied in many solid tumors, our study is the first to use this modality in the treatment of oral and maxillofacial metastases [19]. It is significant because patients with oral and maxillofacial metastases can often feel the presence of these lesions and have obvious clinical symptoms in these regions [20,21].…”

“…Tselis et al [10] have reported on the successful treatment of 2 patients with esthesioneuroblastoma by means of brachytherapy, as a method of improving outcome in the curative and palliative approach of this disease. Huang et al [19] have concluded that brachytherapy is a feasible and effective modality for patients with locally advanced unresectable or recurrent sinonasal adenoid cystic carcinoma. Scepanovic et al [20] reported on a case of malignant melanoma of the nasal cavity and the nasopharynx that was treated postoperatively by means of brachytherapy.…”

“…In the treatment of head and neck cancers, particularly in parotid gland malignancies, [ 125 I] seed brachytherapy has earned a place as a viable treatment option, especially considering the decreased adverse side effects compared to EBRT [8][9][10][11]. Therefore, we focused our attention on radiation-induced skin side effects, which can significantly alter patient appearance.…”

“…One of the methods of radiotherapy, [ 125 I] seed brachytherapy, has the advantage of having a high local control rate when treating head and neck cancers, especially in the treatment of parotid gland cancers [6][7][8][9][10][11]. In addition to the high local control rate, the lack of severe side effects is also beneficial, as this can improve the patient's quality of life during cancer treatment [8][9][10][11].…”
