Cardiac autonomic responses induced by auditory stimulation with music is influenced by affinity

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: We aimed to evaluate the effects of musical auditory stimulation on cardiac autonomic regulation in subjects who enjoy and who do not enjoy the music. METHOD: The study was performed in young women (18-27 years old) divided in two groups (1) volunteers who enjoyed the music and (2) volunteers who did not enjoy the music. Linear indices of heart rate variability were analyzed in the time domain. The subjects were exposed to a musical piece (Pachelbel: Canon in D Major) during 10 minutes. Heart rat… Show more

“…Unexpectedly, SDNN decreased during the listening period of Thai classical music, which is considered sedative music. This finding aligns with a study conducted by Plassa et al (2014), which showed that classical baroque music decreased SDNN in the group that enjoyed the music (Plassa et al, 2014). In this study, the decrease in SDNN may be attributed to a reduction in parasympathetic activity, as shown by the reductions in RMSSD and PNN50.…”

“…37 The physiological and psychological influence has been suggested as owing to the influences of hormones. 38,39 Therefore, this study is unique in that it has proved a mildly significant statistical difference between the control subjects and those under influence of heavy metal music. However, the differences which are significant where all three chaotic globals are applied, lead to an increase in the measurements of chaos.…”

“…According to Tulppo et al, 11 the sympathetic and parasympathetic components of the autonomic nervous system behave in a reciprocal manner, so that an increase in one of them leads to a decrease in the other.…”
