Características da cor da madeira de pinus afetada por compressão térmica

Abstract: The goal of this study was to determine the effects of thermal modification and hot-pressing on the colour characteristics of pine wood as bio-resource. The experimental wood boards with dimensions of 250 mm in width by 500 mm in length by 18 mm in thickness were thermally compressed at a temperature of 120 ºC or 150 ºC, press pressure of 5 or 7 MPa for 60 min in a hot press. Results obtained in this study showed that the colour characteristics of the pine wood boards were affected by press pressure and temper… Show more

“…Compression ratio has little effect compared to compression temperature on the discolouration of specimens. Similar results were reported by Atik et al [23] and Bekhta et al [2]. L* value of pine and beech wood specimens decreased significantly depending on increase of termal post-treatment temperature and specimens darkened.…”

“…Sometimes, color changes arose as a result of thermal treatment may be more preferred for customers. This case especially can be seen on the wood species which have light colors such as pine, beech, poplar [22,23]. Color is an important factor both in terms of aesthetic properties and economic indicators affecting the pricing of the finished product.…”

“…Color properties have an importance by costumers. Thermally compressing process significantly influenced the color parameters of pine wood materials (Atik et al 2013). Thermal modification method affects performance properties of the paulownia (Candan et al 2013a) and poplar (Candan et al 2013b) wood materials.…”

“…Simultaneously, in England, similar products (plywood) were also produced by Jicwood and Jablo. Two other important methods in densifying wood material are ''Compreg'' and ''Staypak'' developed in forestry laboratories in the USA [ 13,14,29,30]. Compreg is obtained by applying pressure to wood while resin in synthetic resin treated wood hardens.…”
