“…Eventos como las cumbres de Río de Janeiro de 1992, Kioto 1997, Johannesburgo 2002 y Río de Janeiro 2012 evidencian la preocupación de algunos gobiernos y estamentos de la sociedad por el uso racional de los recursos naturales y la sostenibilidad necesaria para entre otras cosas evitar las graves consecuencias que pueda generar el cambio climático. Tanto las empresas públicas como privadas han aplicado una serie de medidas tendientes a la preservación del entorno y de los recursos que utilizan, las cuales en su conjunto son denominadas gestión ambiental (Chirinos & Urdaneta, 2009;Jabbour, 2014;Úbeda, Burgos, & Ureña, 2011;Vargas & Olivares, 2012).
