Self-Compacting Concrete

Abstract: Self-compacting concrete was first developed in 1988 to achieve durable concrete structures. Since then, various investigations have been carried out and this type of concrete has been used in practical structures in Japan, mainly by large construction companies. Investigations for establishing a rational mix-design method and self-compactability testing methods have been carried out from the viewpoint of making selfcompacting concrete a standard concrete.

“…In early 1990's, SCC technology had been developed in Japan. Currently, this concrete has gained extensive use in many countries including Malaysia for different applications and structural configuration [1,2]. It is agreed that SCC enhanced concrete stability and involves the effect of different mixture variables to certify satisfactory fresh properties and excellent mechanical properties especially compressive strength [2].…”

“…Na composição granular do concreto observamse vazios entre os agregados graúdos (OKAMURA; OUCHI, 2003). Devido a essa falta de material, ocorre a colisão entre os agregados, gerando o atrito.…”

“…In 1986, Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) was introduced by Okamura as a solution for producing durable self-leveling concrete, which can flow and be compacted by its own weight into every corner of the formwork during placing and without requiring the vibrating process for normal vibrated concrete [2].…”
