Abstract: Eugenia is the largest neotropical genus in the Myrtaceae family. The genus has a wide geographical distribution, occurring from Mexico to Argentina. Eugenia species are rich in essential oils. Essential oils have applications in perfumery, cosmetics, food, pesticides and medicines.
