A New Energetic Complex: Synthesis, Structure, and Combustion Catalysis Performance

Abstract: The potential of tetrazole-based ligands for forming energetic complexes applied in pyrotechnics and propellants is demonstrated with the use of 5,5'-(1,3-phenylene)bis(1H-tetrazole) (H 2 BTB) to generate an energetic complex with high energy. A new energetic complex of Pb II -tetrazolate, [Pb 2 (BTB) 2 (H 2 O) 8 ]•5H 2 O (1), was synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural analysis reveals that the central Pb II ions present two distinct coordination environments… Show more

“…A catalytic combustion catalyst is a substance that effectively affects the combustion process. Doping combustion catalyst is regarded as the most practical way to resolve the abovementioned problems. Currently, the most widely used catalysts include carbon materials, metals and alloys, metal oxides, and metal complexes. Energetic metal complexes are a class of metal compounds with a discrete or infinite continuous spatial structure, which is formed by the metal center bridging with energetic organic ligands through coordination bonds. , Various structure and function complexes can be formed with the help of directional coordination bonds and intermolecular forces like hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking . Energetic metal complexes are characterized by possessing energetic properties and metal centers with catalytic activity .…”
