Domestication of a wild edible and nutritious mushroom Lentinus tigrinus from Pakistan

Abstract: Lentinus tigrinus is a significant edible and medicinal mushroom. It was collected from University of the Punjab, Lahore under a Morus tree. For the domestication of this wild significant species, its three parameters i.e., culturability, spawn production and cultivation potential were assessed using different synthetic culture media and substrates. Completely randomized design was used to determine the parameters and all the effects were evaluated in triplicates. Among these different media used, maximum myce… Show more

“…In the study of Gülser and Pekşen (2003) [ 12 ], a mixture of TER with peat in a ratio of 1:1 ( v / v ) could be used profitably as a new mulch soil in cultivation of button mushroom. Experiments by Atİla (2019) [ 13 ] and Niazi et al (2022) [ 14 ] confirmed that TER was economical and effective as the growing medium for the cultivation of Lentinus tigrinus or Lentinula edodes . Although TER can be used as substrate for cultivation of mushrooms, their effects on nutritional and organoleptic properties of button mushroom cultivated by TER, have still remained elusive.…”
