A b s t r a c tThe hypothesis tested was that it is possible to identify animals that deposit fat and muscle earlier through indirect evaluation. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the use of visual evaluation of precocity score for the identification of Nelore heifers with an early biotype. Eighteen Nelore heifers aged 9 to 11 months were evaluated visually for body structure (S), precocity (P), and muscle (M) scores. The animals were divided according to precocity scores: animals with scores 4, 5 and 6 were classified as early biotype and those with scores 1, 2 and 3 as late biotype. Loin eye area (LEA) and subcutaneous (SFT) and picanha (biceps femoris muscle) fat thickness (PFT) were measured by ultrasonography. Animals classified as precocious received higher scores (P≤0.05) for S (5.1 vs 2.4) and M (4.4 vs 2.6), which resulted in heavier animals (233.2 vs 202.8 kg). No biotype effect (P≥0.05) was observed for LEA (36.5 cm 2 ), but animals classified as precocious had higher (P≤0.05) SFT (1.3 vs 0.5 cm) and PFT (2.9 vs 2.3 cm). The standardized canonical coefficients showed that PFT (0.78) and the M (-1.02) score are the variables that most affect the first canonical variable positively and negatively, respectively. The first canonical variable explained 100% of the total variation in the traits evaluated. The precocity score was found to be an efficient alternative for the identification of precocious individuals. Nutritional improvements in intensive aquaculture production systems is necessary for the reduction of stress, maximum utilization of nutritional components, and expression of the genetic potential of fish. The objective of this study was to evaluate the hemato-immunological, and histological parameters and gut microbiota of Nile tilapia fed with the microalga Schizochytrium sp. Males of Nile tilapia were distributed among eight net cages (6 m 3 ), and fed for 105 days with two diets: control (CON), without Schizochytrium sp., and supplemented (SUP), with 1.2% Schizochytrium sp. in the diet. The final weight, mortality, hematocrit, total erythrocyte count (RBC), hemoglobin, hematimetric indices, white blood cell count (WBC), total protein, and serum lysozyme were measured. Alterations in intestinal morphology were evaluated. The gut microbiota was evaluated with next-generation sequencing. No significant differences (p>0.05) were found in the final weight and mortality between diets. Regarding the hematological parameters, a difference (p<0.05) was detected only in RBC, with there being lower values in the SUP, although this group also showed a tendency toward having an increased mean corpuscular hemoglobin level. There were no differences (p>0.05) in total protein and serum lysozyme concentrations or in WBCs between diets, except for lymphocytes, which presented lower values (p<0.05) in the SUP, suggesting immunomodulation by the polyunsaturated fatty acids present in the microalga. There was no difference (p>0.05) in the intestinal morphology between diets. Metagenomic data indicated greater richness (represented by the Chao index) and a higher abundance of the bacterial phylum Firmicutes in the gut microbiota of the tilapia fed with the SUP diet, demonstrating that the digestion and use of the components of the microalga could influence the microbial community. The aim of this work was to increase the aerial part, biometry, and yield of achenes from sunflower plants on the effect of increasing doses of blood residue, as an alternative source of phosphorus (P), in a clayey-textured red Oxisol. The experimental design used was randomized blocks, with six treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of five doses of blood residue (0, 6, 12, 24 and 48m3 ha-1) and a control treatment that received phosphate chemical fertilization, 80kg ha-1 of P2O5. The increasing doses of blood residue and chemical fertilization do not show disproportionality for P concentration in soil, leaf, plant height (PH), stem diameter (SD), chapter diameter (CD) and achene production. The analysis of the principal component (PC) revealed that the first PC presents the greatest accumulated variation (74%). Based on the first PC, the dose of 12m-3 ha-1 has greater influence for PH, SC, and CD. Due to the greater influence on the biometric characteristics of sunflower plants, the blood residue (12m-3 ha-1 = 98.4kg P ha-1), can be used as an alternative source of phosphorus for the cultivation of sunflower in clayey oxisols.
