Purpose: To translate, adapt and validate the International Consultation on Incontinence Modular Questionnaire on Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms ICIQ-FLUTS for the Brazilian female population. Materials and Methods: A translation of the questionnaire into Brazilian Portuguese was made followed by an adaptation for better understanding by native speakers. After that, the ICIQ-FLUTS was answered by eighty volunteers (n=80) twice (for interviewers 1 and 2) with an interval of 30 minutes between them. Furthermore, after 15 days from the evaluation, the participants answered the ICIQ-FLUTS again in order to verify the questionnaire stability over time. The questionnaires Utian Quality Of Life (UQOL) and International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF), which are validated in Brazil were also applied to perform the validation. Results: The result of the Cronbach α coeffi cient of the instrument presented a value of 0.832. The values for test-retest were 0.907 (inter-observer) and 0.901 (intra-observer). The correlation between ICIQ-FLUTS (score I-domain of urinary incontinence) with the ICIQ-SF (fi nal score) was strong and positive (r=0.836, p=0.000). In addition, the ICIQ-FLUTS showed moderate and negative correlation with the total score of UQOL (r=-0.691, p=0.017). Conclusion: The Portuguese version of the ICIQ-FLUTS questionnaire showed strong correlation to ICIQ-SF questionnaire and satisfactory values to test-retest and internal consistency.

Morbidities and medications used by practicing nurses during the climacteric

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to identify the morbidities and medications used by nurses practicing in São Paulo, Brazil, during the climacteric period to raise awareness and contribute to future preventive health measures in this population.METHODS: A descriptive, cross-sectional study of 218 nurses aged 46-65 years based on data collected between January 2018 and July 2019 using a self-administered questionnaire was conducted.RESULTS: Respondents had a mean age of 53.9±5.1 years, mean weight of 71.3±13.6 kg, mean waist circumference of 91.6±14.5 cm, and mean body mass index of 27.8±4.9 kg/m 2 . Notably, 70.5% did not menstruate, had a mean age at last menstruation of 47.5±6.2 years and mean total score (Menopause Rating Scale) of 10.8±8.1, and reported the following morbidities: dyslipidemia (35.5%), subarachnoid hemorrhage (31.0%), rheumatologic diseases (14.8%), coronary heart disease (10.3%), diabetes (10.2%), malignant tumors (5.5%), deep venous thrombosis (3.2%), stroke (2.8%), and pulmonary embolism (0.5%). Medications used are antihypertensive agents (28.7%), antidyslipidemic agents (20.6%), antidiabetic agents (10.2%), antidepressants (9.6%), and anxiolytic agents (8.9%). CONCLUSIONS:The most prevalent climacteric symptoms were somatic and psychological, most notably physical and mental exhaustion and muscle and joint issues. The most common morbidities were anxiety, dyslipidemia, arterial hypertension, depression, arthrosis, arthritis and rheumatologic diseases, osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus, and coronary heart disease. The most frequently used medications were antihypertensive agents, antidyslipidemic agents (statins), antidiabetic agents, antidepressants, and calcium supplements. The study results furnish information on the health of practicing nurses during the climacteric period to inform preventive measures aimed at the main risk factors for morbidities to which nurses are exposed during this period.

Objetivo: Identificar o efeito do uso de contraceptivos hormonais orais na depressão, ansiedade e qualidade de vida. Métodos: Neste estudo, utiliza-se o método transversal e a amostra foi 113 mulheres em idade reprodutiva. Para avaliação de depressão, ansiedade e qualidade de vida foram utilizados o Inventário de BECK, IDATE Traço-Estado e o SF-36, respectivamente. Para análise estatística utilizou-se o programa STATA 14.0. O nível de significância adotado foi de 5%. Resultados: Mulheres que utilizam contraceptivos tiveram idade 24,02±5,30 anos, menarca 12,23±1,40 anos e peso 58,90±10,20 kg. O não consumo de álcool e tabaco foi de 73 (64,60%) e 111(98,23%), respectivamente. Nas usuárias de contraceptivos hormonais orais combinados e não usuárias de contraceptivos hormonais orais combinados em relação ao tipo de ansiedade e nível de depressão, não houve diferença estatisticamente significante. Prevaleceram as mulheres assintomáticas em relação a depressão (não usuárias de contraceptivos hormonais orais combinados 61/82,43%) e presença de ansiedade/traço e ansiedade/estado, em ambos os grupos. A qualidade de vida não foi prejudicada pelo uso ou não dos contraceptivos hormonais orais combinados. Conclusão: O uso do Contraceptivo não está relacionado á presença de ansiedade, depressão e alteração de qualidade de vida.
