Tratamento Ortodôntico. Sorriso. Estética. RESUMO Introdução: Avaliar a influência da posição vertical dos dentes anteriores inferiores na percepção estética do sorriso de leigos afrodescendentes de diferentes faixas etárias. Materiais e Métodos: Um sorriso padrão foi construído a partir de fotografias intraorais de um indivíduo afro-descendente. A posição vertical dos dentes anteriores inferiores foi gradualmente alterada, movendo os dentes para cima e para baixo dentro da moldura do lábio em incrementos de 0,5 mm variando de-1,5 mm a 2,0 mm, em relação ao ponto zero. Utilizando uma escala analógica visual, 150 indivíduos leigos afrodescendentes brasileiros de três diferentes faixas etárias (15-19, 35-44 e 65-74) classificaram a atratividade em relação a 8 sorrisos com exposição gengival alterada. Resultados: Não houve diferenças significativas (p> 0,05) entre os avaliadores masculino e feminino para os três grupos. Todos os grupos etários atribuíram pontuações mais altas para os sorrisos com cobertura de 0,5 mm do lábio inferior nos incisivos centrais inferiores. No entanto, para os sorrisos menos atraentes, houve diferenças nas opiniões dos grupos etários (p <0,05). Conclusão: os grupos etários compartilhavam preferências semelhantes quanto ao sorriso mais agradável em relação às posições verticais dos dentes anteriores inferiores.

Self-perception of dental aesthetics needs to be considered in planning orthodontic treatment because it is known that everyone has a self-perception of different oral esthetic conditions. Objective: To assess the state of malocclusion based on self-perception of dental aesthetics using the Oral Aesthetic Subjective Impact Score (OASIS); to determine the relationship of self-perceptions of oral aesthetics and the state of malocclusion from the results of clinical examinations using the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). Material and Methods: Research subjects were middle school students aged between 14-18 years as many as 187 students. For oral aesthetic assessment using the OASIS index questionnaire, and to evaluate the aesthetic and anatomical components of the malocclusion clinic using the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). Results: The prevalence of malocclusion according to Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI) showed that mild / normal malocclusion (59.9%), moderate malocclusion (33.4%), severe malocclusion (5.7%), and very severe malocclusion (1%). The prevalence of self-perception of oral aesthetics was 54.6% judging good. The results of the analysis with logistic regression tests showed that there was a significant (p<0.001) relationship between self-perception of oral aesthetics using the OASIS index and malocclusion status using the DAI index. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, there was a significant relationship (p <0.01) between oral aesthetic self perception and malocclusion status of high school students.KeywordsOral aesthetic perception; Oral aesthetic subjective impact score; Dental aesthetic index.

RESUMENEn la era actual; del culto al cuerpo, a la salud, a la imagen y al bienestar; se debe tener una visión del paciente de manera más holística; en la cual, no solo es esencial considerar la salud y función de los dientes; sino buscar lograr la mayor estética de la sonrisa considerando las necesidades y expectativas de los pacientes. Por ello, en la presente revisión se tiene como objetivo conocer la percepción de los parámetros estéticos que son más evaluados en el análisis de la sonrisa; tanto por los profesionales, como por los pacientes. ABSTRACTIn the current era; of the cult to the body, to the health, to the image and to the wellbeing; one must have a vision of the patient in a more holistic way; in which, it is not only essential to consider the health and function of the teeth; but seek to achieve the greatest aesthetics of the smile considering the needs and expectations of patients. Therefore, in the present review we aim to know the perception of the aesthetic parameters that are most evaluated in the smile analysis; both by professionals, as by patients.
