Effect of Ficus hispida L. on normal and dexamethasone suppressed wound healing

Abstract: Ethanolic extract of roots of Ficus hispida was investigated in normal and dexamethasone depressed healing conditions, using incision, excision and dead space wound models in albino rats. The root extract of Ficus hispida has shown the maximum breaking strength compared to control group. The rate of epithelialization and wound contraction in excision model was better as compared to control groups. There was significant increase in granulation tissue weight and hydroxyproline content in dead space model compare… Show more

“…The effective and diverse compounds in the Verbascum plant species such as avonoids, polysaccharides, tannins, saponins, verbacosides, steroids, carbohydrates, and anti-in ammatory and antimicrobial properties are important factors in the regeneration of dermis [20,25,31,32]. As the results of the extraction of the Verbascum chemical compounds in our study showed, one of the most abundant compounds of this plant is the avonoid, which is consistent with the results of other studies [21,39].…”

Collagen and hydroxyproline content was increased thus proving the pro-healing effect of the plant[40] 27. Pyrus communis (Rosaceae) Ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of P. communis were tested in dexamethasone delayed wound healing model in rats.…”
