Inheritance of soybean resistance to Rotylenchulus reniformis

Abstract: Genetic inheritance of soybean resistance to Rotylenchulus reniformis was studied by evaluating the phenotypic reaction of soybean plants to the nematode. The resistant (Forrest and Custer) and susceptible (BR96-25619) soybean cultivars used as parents as well as the F 1 , F 2 and F 2:3 derived from their crosses were infested individually with 1,000 eggs and vermiform R. reniformis. About 70 days after the infestation, the nematodes were extracted from the roots and the reproduction factors and the numbers of… Show more

“…Among them BRSMG250, TMG115RR, TMG121RR, MGBR015849, TMG113RR, BRS Jiripoca, and M-SOY833RR were not significantly different from the resistant cultivar 'Custer' (Rebois et al 1970). Cardoso et al (2014) reported that soybean resistance to RN is inherited quantitatively based on lines evaluated from two populations of Forrest (resistant) x BR96-25619 (susceptible) and Custer (resistance) x BR96-25619 (susceptible) normal distribution from highly resistant to highly susceptible. Ha et al (2007) identified three QTLs conditioning RN resistant on Chrs.…”

“…This information can be obtained through techniques such as diallel cross (Jinks and Hayman 1953;Hayman 1954;Griffing 1956;Walters and Morton 1978;Mather and Jinks 1982). This method has been used to determine the genetic parameters of quality and quantity traits in crops and their resistance against pathogens (Pederson and Windham 1992;Zhang et al 2007;Barros et al 2011;Cardoso et al 2014). Hayman's method is one of the diallel analysis procedures for determining genetic parameters and heritability.…”
