In the middle Negro River, there have been several conflicts between the different fishing modalities due to the differential use of the fishing resource and the dispute over the same fishing areas. In this way, the spatial dynamics of commercial fishing in the municipality of Barcelos in the middle Negro River were analyzed, aiming to identify the locations used in the fisheries that may have different potentials and demand different actions. Information was collected from commercial fisher regarding the location of fishing sites and the frequency of use during high and low water periods. The geographic coordinates were identified with Q-Gis software and later submitted to a kernel-intensity technique. Eight fishing sites were used in commercial fisheries in Barcelos. In both hydrological periods, fishing occurred with a greater intensity in the Demeni River. Its waters change from light to white throughout the year, and there are several marginal areas that could serve as nurseries for various species of fish. Possibly, in this environment, there is a greater probability of conflicts occurring between the different resource users since this river is also exploited by recreational and subsistence fishers. This result shows that the spatial dynamics of fisheries can be truly important for management proposals.

Problems of environmental degradation worldwidehave generated different environmental policies, especially in protected areas. In the state of Amazonas, Brazil, about 50% of the territory is under the order of protected area, including 27% Indigenous Reserves and 23% of state and federal managementreserves. However, many of the conflicts generated over time in these reserves aredue to the limited participation of social subjects in the planning and implementation of various activities in the process of territorial and environmental management. The analysis of territorial disputes arising from forest management in reserves in the state of Amazonas should be based on management plans. It can be inferred that the demarcation process and institutionalization of the protected areas are generating territorial disputes, but along the deployment of the politics and governance, these differences are reduced to the minimum by means of the social participation of stakeholders. The authoritative processes in the delimitation of these areas have been characterized by endogenous planning practices and land use in protected areas with the participation of social subjects, evidencing favorable results of this policy for the state of Amazonas mainly forcultural and environmental preservation.

The Negro river basin is considered the largest area of extractive of ornamental fish in Brazil. This area has fundamental importance for the populations from the Amazon. The present study aimed to describe socioeconomic profile of ornamental fishermen known as “piabeiros” in the Municipality of Barcelos, as well as the ornamental fishery, fisheries area, target species, environments, fishing techniques, equipment, capture techniques and main difficulties faced by the current activity. This study was carried out in municipality of Barcelos, through semi - structured interviews, with artisanal ornamental fishermen (N= 89). The main families of ornamental fish caught and traded were: Characidae, Lebiasinidae, Gasteropelecidae, Cichilidae, Anostomidae, Loricaridae, Potamotrygonidae and Gymnotidae. The main catchment areas were igarapés, lakes, flooded fields, beaches, river banks and igapó forest. Rapiché was the most used equipment in the fisheries both by the fishermen of the urban areas (43.81%) and rural (41.89%). Most of the fishermen are associated with the colony of fishermen of Barcelos (Z33). The data showed that the dynamics of ornamental fishing have changed in a short time and directly affected fishermen, in addition to the low age renewal with the participation of younger fishermen, threatening the transmission of ecological knowledge to future generations. As a result, the increase of the problems related to the productive chain and absence of public power to the activity, since ornamental fishing has already been treated as one of the main economic activities more important for the local communities and for the State of Amazonas.
