Renal Leiomyosarcoma Treated With Partial Nephrectomy

Abstract: Primary sarcomas constitute from 0.8% to 2.7% of renal tumors in adults.1,2 Excluding Wilms tumors, 47% to 60% are leiomyosarcomas, 15% liposarcomas, 9% hemangiopericytomas, 7% fibrosarcomas, 6% malignant fibrous histiocytomas, and 5% rhabdomyosarcomas.1,2 The etiology of renal leiomyosarcoma remains obscure.Radical nephrectomy was the treatment of choice used in all but 2 of the cases described, 1,2 in which partial nephrectomy presented good results. 3 CASE REPORTA 52-year-old woman of mixed white and negro … Show more
