Tal descoberta aconteceu no então município de Uruaçu/GO. O primeiro povoado nos arredores da mina se deu em 1965. No entanto, apenas em 1975 o povoado foi elevado a Distrito, com o nome de Minaçu, que na língua Tupi-Guarani significa "Mina Grande" e cerca de dois anos depois foi emancipado politicamente, então, desmembrado de Uruaçu/GO passa ser um novo município. Já Niquelândia é uma das mais antigas cidades do estado de Goiás. Sua história começou ainda em 1735 quando encontrou-se ouro na região de Traíras. Em 1755 Traíras passa a condição de Povoado com o nome de São José do Tocantins e em 1833 passa a condição de município. Em 1904 descobrese o mineral Níquel 3 em seu território, isto desencadeou um crescimento muito grande em toda região. E foi em 1938 que passou a ser chamada de Niquelândia, nome que faz alusão ao bem mineral que jazi em seu território.A corrida do ouro tem sempre suas fases quase fatais: descobrimento, um período de expansão febril, caracterizado pela pressa e semianarquia, depois, um breve, mas brilhante, período de apogeu, e imediatamente, quase sem transição, a súbita decadência, prolongada, às vezes, como uma lenta agonia (PALACIN, 1976, p. 15). Palacin (1976) associa as fases fatais da mineração ao ouro, porém é possível notar que o modelo é válido para qualquer bem mineral. Neste ínterim, tanto Minaçu/GO quanto Niquelândia/GO passaram pelas ditas fases fatais, ou seja, foram do apogeu a decadência. A primeira por questões legais 4 e a segunda por questões comerciais 5 . Independente do motivo do fechamento ou paralização das atividades minerais o que deve ser mencionado é que nem os municípios nem suas populações foram preparadas para isto, o que de certa forma é praxe em qualquer tipo de empreendimento mineral no Brasil. A quantidade de pessoas afetadas com o fechamento é muito grande, pois para que um empreendimento mineral se estabeleça são necessárias diversas formas de circulação. Arroyo (2015, p. 37) afirma que: "O território fica mais aberto aos ventos do mundo e a circulação se torna fundamental para entender sua dinâmica". A circulação ao qual Arroyo (2015) menciona foi responsável pelo deslocamento de pessoas, técnicas, produtos, capitais, tudo isso imprescindível para o funcionamento dos empreendimentos minerais. E foi justamente a circulação que transformou os territórios de Minaçu/GO e Niquelândia/GO. O território sofre alterações com o passar do tempo de acordo com a sociedade que nele interage. E a sociedade que interagiu nestes municípios alteraram a natureza 6 para materializar o território da maneira que lhes atendesse.

Agriculture is an essential economic activity in Brazil. However, it is also the main source of water quality degradation. Monitoring catchments with agricultural land use is a way to generate information on a scale to identify causes and sources of water quality degradation. This work used monitoring data derived from hydrology and the quality of surface and underground water in an intensive agricultural catchment in the Atlantic Forest biome. The Fortaleza River catchment is located in the western part of Santa Catarina state in southern Brazil and has 62 km² of drainage area. Hydrological and water quality monitoring was conducted for seven years at two fluviometric stations, three lysimeters, one meteorological station and one piezometer. Data on precipitation, temperature, water flow, surface runoff, drainage, and water quality were used. Statistical analyses were also developed. Precipitation between 2013 and 2019 presented a homogeneous distribution in monthly and annual data, with January and July the months with the highest and lowest values, respectively. Statistical difference in the average and Q95 flows was found in upstream and downstream fluviometric sections. In terms of quality, statistical differences were identified for ammonium, nitrate and potassium concentrations, which had higher concentrations in lysimeter runoff, indicating direct influence of agricultural activity on water quality. Principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that (i) surface water presented a positive relationship in Component 1 for the magnesium-calcium, sulphate-chloride and acetate-bromide groups and a negative relationship for phosphate-nitrate; (ii) in lysimeters, the positive relationship occurred for Component 2 for the phosphate-chloride and sulphate-nitrate groups and was negative for ammonium-lithium and calcium-potassium-magnesium; and (iii) in piezometer, positive relationships were found for chloride-sodium and phosphate-nitrite pairs, while negative relationships were found for calcium-magnesium.
