Ordered mesoporous silica carrier system applied in nanobiothecnology

Abstract: Ordered mesoporous materials like SBA15 possess a network of channels and pores of well-defined size in the nanoscale range (2-50 nm). This particular pore architecture makes them suitable candidates for hosting and delivery under appropriate conditions of a variety of molecules of pharmaceutical interest, including radiopharmaceuticals. The characteristics of SBA-15 prepared in different temperatures and the behavior of this system regarding microencapsulation of a model drug were investigated. The calcined s… Show more

“…The NiSBA‐15 modifier was synthesized by the hydrothermal method proposed by Zhao et al. (1998) 57 and an adaptation of Sousa (2005) 58, taking into account the monitoring done in the synthesis of nanostructured material SBA‐15, used to adjust the properties, making them suitable for use of the material. The modifier was prepared with the Si/Ni ratio of 50.…”

“…Thus, the gradual drug release from silica particles was carried out under the same pH. The application of local drug delivery system using implantation or injection has advantages over conventional drug therapies due to lower harmful side effects [64].…”

“…This system presents a low rate of delivery, followed by a rather constant rate over subsequent hours with a linear regression factor of 0.999. 58 SBA-15-collagen hybrid material was also synthesized by Cao; 59 it was used as a delivery system for ATE. 60 The release kinetics of both ATE/SBA-15 and ATE/SBA-15-collagen presented a lower delivery rate during the rst 10 h. Aer 10 h, the SBA-15 system appeared to be more effective than SBA-15collagen.…”
