On a study 5 , a Fuzzy Linguistic Model was developed in order to classify the severity level of the phonological disorders regarding quantity. The theoretical foundation was based on the Features Complexity Implicational Model (FCIM) 7,8 . The mathematical models, as the one from this study 5 , are built from a well-known and widely studied mathematical theory. When it is efficient, the model allows researchers to elaborate predictions, ABSTRACT Purpose: to check if the criteria adopted from the Fuzzy Linguistic Model to classify the severity of Phonological Disorder (PD) are employed in the practice of speech and language therapists and whether they are in conformity with the purpose of such model. It is furthermore intended to analyze the acquiescence between PD severity classified by the Model and the one deemed by speech and language therapists and check the main difficulties. Method: the study included two samples. The first one was comprised of a representative number of deviating phonological systems (n=52) and classified by the Model when it was proposed. The second one comprised two groups of speech and language therapists GF-I and GF-II. The speech and language therapists were asked to deem the severity of deviating in phonological systems, mapped in the Implicational Model of Feature Complexity -MICT as Severe, Moderate-Severe, Moderate-Mild, and Mild. Next, criteria and main difficulties were described in a questionnaire. Kappa statistics was used, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: the criteria used in the proposal were generally used by GF-I and considered as adequate by GF-II. There was an acquiescence between classification of severity obtained by the Model and the one deemed by the speech and language therapists. The most frequently reported difficulty was distinguishing between intermediate degrees. Conclusions: the Fuzzy Linguistic Model criteria are used to classify PD severity when based on MICT. Furthermore, the criteria are in acquiescence with the purpose of the Model. Due to the difficulties, other forms of classifying severity can be added in order to characterize PD over other major aspects.

OBJETIVO: analisar o comportamento das variáveis Percurso das Rotas, Nível de Complexidade e Aquisição de fonemas, conforme a classificação da gravidade do Desvio Fonológico (DF) por meio do Modelo Linguístico Fuzzy (BRANCALIONI, 2010). Além disso, verificar se a classificação da gravidade, por meio do Modelo, é capaz de diferenciar quantitativamente os graus quanto às classes de sons e aos traços distintivos. MÉTODO: a amostra foi constituída pela avaliação fonológica pré-tratamento de 204 sujeitos com DF, de ambos os sexos e idade entre quatro anos e dois meses a oito anos e dois meses. Todos os sujeitos foram submetidos à avaliação fonológica, avaliação da linguagem compreensiva e expressiva, avaliação do sistema estomatognático, exame articulatório repetitivo e avaliação audiológica. Foram realizadas as análises contrastiva e por traços distintivos. A gravidade dos 204 sistemas fonológicos desviantes foi classificada de acordo com o Modelo. Os valores correspondentes as variáveis foram tabulados e submetidos a tratamento estatístico por meio dos testes Tukey e Associação Qui-Quadrado complementado pela Análise de Resíduos Ajustados, considerando nível de significância de 5% (p<0,05). RESULTADOS: verificou-se que as variáveis Percurso das Rotas, Nível de Complexidade e Aquisição de Fonemas diminuem conforme se acentua a gravidade, sendo estas relações estatisticamente significantes. Além disso, observou-se que o número de classe de som alterada e de substituições de traços distintivos aumenta conforme se acentua a gravidade, sendo estas relações estatisticamente significantes. CONCLUSÃO: o Modelo é capaz de diferenciar os graus quanto às variáveis, trazendo informações importantes de acordo com os diferentes graus.
