Abstract: RESUMO -Avaliaram-se as características radiculares de Panicum maximum Jacq. cv. Show more

“…Increase in the N rates (Figure 7a) may increase the need of Ca to grow and to reinforce cell walls, to activate enzymes and to balance the cations for the plant development (Epstein & Bloom, 2005). However, Silveira & Monteiro (2011) observed that the increase in N rates in Tanzânia guineagrass did not increase Ca absorption.…”

“…From the analysis of the laboratory results of erosions (Table 4), the level of calcium in the superficial layers of the horizons is high, except for Gullie da Vendinha, which has an adequate level of this nutrient. This is explained by the fact that calcium is essential for plant growth, however, in acid soils such as those studied, although the calcium level is high, it is not available to plants due to the chemical competition for the hydrogen ion (Silveira & Monteiro, 2011). The lower pH values indicated the presence of free acids and the larger ones indicated the presence of saline or limestone soils.…”

“…The doses were high because of the low solubility of eggshells (between 10 and 15%) and were based on the study of Silveira & Monteiro (2011). The experimental design used in the study was randomized blocks with four replicates.…”

“…It should be pointed out that, in Brazil, extensive areas of pasture are cultivated in soils with low natural fertility, which have low contents of calcium, magnesium, sulfur (Oliveira et al, 2009) and micronutrients. In this context, it is important to evaluate nutritional, bromatological and productive aspects of forages when there is the supply of other nutrients such as calcium, in order to optimize the recommendation of fertilization for pastures (Silveira & Monteiro, 2011).…”
