Show more

“…The plasma concentration of urea in animals supplemented with sunflower crushed presented a quadratic behavior and an average of 19.49 mg dL -1 , which is 28.13% lower than in supplemented animals without sunflower crushed, with mean rates of 27.12 mg dL -1 , close to those registered by Rennó et al (2008) for zebu. Domingues et al (2010) reported lower peaks for supplemented animals with sunflower crushed replacing cottonseed meal with a peak two hours after feeding.…”

“…The increase in uric acid concentration is related to the increase in microbial protein synthesis by ruminal microorganisms. In recent years, researches have confirmed the correlation between microbial protein production and urinary excretion of purine derivatives (Aguiar et al, 2015, Pessoa, Leão, Ferreira, Valadares Filho, Valadares, & Queiroz, 2009, Rennó et al, 2008.…”

“…Protein catabolism and its excretion rate depend on glomerular filtration rate and its reabsorption in renal tubules (Kaneko et al, 1997). Blood urea nitrogen is related to the efficiency of use of dietary protein, so high blood BUN concentrations could indicate inefficiencies in the dietary usage of protein, and also that high amounts of energy are being lost (Pessoa et al, 2009).…”
