Chemical deposition of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3±δ films on ceramic substrates

Abstract: In this paper, it is reported the growth of La 0.7 Ca 0.3 MnO 3±δ films using a chemical solution deposition method (CSD) by the spin-coating technique. Such solution was prepared through a route based on modified polymeric precursor method. Spin-coating deposition on different ceramic substrates was performed and analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The magnetic response of the prepared specimens was studied using a SQUID magnetome… Show more

“…Thus, the Mn valence states in the manganite can be deduced from the fitted peaks for the Mn 2p 3/2 peak. 29 As shown in Fig. 3(a), Mn 2+ is dominant at the interface region of the LSMO/NiO heterostructure but becomes less dominant when proceeding to the LSMO layer.…”

“…To ensure the quality of the peak fitting, all the core-level spectra were fitted with Gaussian-Lorentzian peaks and a combined Shirley background39. The Mn 3+ /Mn 4+ ratio in the LCMO can be deduced by the two fitted peaks for the Mn 2 p 3/2 peak40. The result shows that Mn 3+ is absolutely dominant in the LCMO layer, but there are small amount of Mn 4+ .…”

“…4. 11,20,21 The shapes are apparently nearly similar. According to the relationship between ln q and the reciprocal of the absolute temperature (1/T), it reveals that the thermistor operate steadily with the linear dependence of resistivity versus temperature, indicative of the NTC thermistor characteristics.…”

“…With respect to the XPS peaks of Mn 2p, although there are slight differences in the locations of binding energies of Mn 2p1/2 and Mn 2p3/2 among different samples, they are all still in good agreement with the values of Mn 3+ and Mn 4+ , which have a strong preference for octahedral sites. 11,20,21 The shapes are apparently nearly similar. However, a slight change in the peak position toward higher binding energy with the introduction of La 2 O 3 .…”
