Abstract: Current technological advances require that the raw materials used in the production of electric devices and structural materials present special characteristics of chemical purity, size distribution and morphology of the particles. Tin oxides are mainly used as gas sensor and as surges suppressor (varistor). To achieve an appropriate control on the mentioned characteristics, we use the method of controlled precipitation (MPC), which allowed us to obtain certain characteristics in other oxides. When using the … Show more

“…In the zone 800-100 cm 21 , the gradual decrease and absence of the band at 336 cm 21 m(SnÀ ÀCl) and the gradual appearance of the band at 777 cm 21 m(SnÀ ÀO) was observed when tin content is increased from 3 wt % up to 20 wt %, which is indicative of SnÀ ÀO bond formation. Some authors 26 attribute the band at 540 cm 21 to SnÀ ÀO bond, and the bands at 780 and 630 cm 21 characteristics of SnO 2 . It has been also reported 27 that tetragonal SnO has characteristic bands at 650, 480 cm 21 and the SnO 2 , a medium intensity band at 670 cm 21 , a shoulder at 610 cm 21 , and a strong band at 312 cm 21 .…”
