Estudo prospectivo comparativo entre pseudoartrose e fusão óssea na estenose de canal lombar

Abstract: Objective: Prospective-comparative study between pseudarthrosis and bone fusion in lumbar stenosis Methods: 38 patients operated on for lumbar spinal stenosis and submitted to arthrodesis were evaluated by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire. Radiographs were requested to evaluate spinal fusion. Results: An effective improvement was observed between the preoperative period and one year after the operation, in relation to VAS, both in the group that received a bone fusion … Show more

“…Rodrigues et al ( 21 ) demonstrated that the presence of lumbar pseudoarthrosis did not promote worse clinical results than those observed in patients with complete fusion. These findings are similar to those described by Kant et al, ( 14 ) that suggested that the concern with the quality of fusion is more relevant only in those patients with an unfavorable clinical result and chronic lumbar pain.…”

“…2,3 Surgical treatment is indicated when conservative treatment fails, characterized by persistent pain with associated functional limitation, and in cases of neurological impairment. 3,4 Its main objective is to decompress affected neural structures, enlarging the space of the vertebral canal and treating previous segmental instability or instability created by the removal of posterior elements, often necessary during the decompression procedure. 5,6 Among the fusion techniques available, posterolateral arthrodesis with pedicle screws is one of the most used, with the following advantages: it allows a single access route; good capacity for stabilization and correction of deformities; low risk of vascular injury; low relative cost (when compared to other instrumented techniques); and it is familiar to spine surgeons.…”
