Background: Sexual satisfaction is a complex and multidimensional concept. It encompasses physical, emotional, relational and cultural dimensions, and constitutes an essential component of sexual health, as well as an indicator of quality of life and wellbeing. The Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women (SSS-W) was designed in the United States, and it is a valid and reliable tool to measure women’s sexual satisfaction. Aim: The aim of this study was to culturally adapt and translate the SSS-W into Spanish and analyze its psychometric properties. Methods: First, the original instrument was culturally adapted and translated from English to Spanish. Then, we tested the psychometric properties of the instrument in its Spanish version in a sample of 316 women who attended a family planning clinic in Logroño, Spain. Internal consistency reliability of the whole scale and each subscale separately was measured using Cronbach’s alpha. Factorial validity of the SSS-W in its Spanish version was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis through the Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin measure of sample adequacy and Bartlett’s Sphericity test. Results: The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of the total scale and each subscale were satisfactory (>0.7). Exploratory factor analysis confirmed the five hypothetical dimensions of the scale in its Spanish version. The five dimensions (contentment, communication, compatibility, relational concern, and personal concern) explained 60% of the total variance of the scale; factor analysis using varimax rotation revealed strong loads in each of the five components. Conclusions: The SSS-W in its Spanish version is a valid and reliable tool to assess sexual satisfaction in Spanish women of reproductive age and, therefore, can be used both in clinical practice and for the investigation of sexual health.

A educação para a sexualidade é um pilar fundamental da saúde sexual e reprodutiva. Contudo, há um distanciamento dessa discussão para adolescentes rurais. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o discurso sobre a sexualidade do adolescente no contexto rural e as perspectivas para romper com a ordens do discurso. Adota como metodologia a pesquisa-ação desenvolvida em duas escolas rurais: uma no Brasil e outra na Colômbia. Para análise dos dados foi aplicada a Análise Crítica do Discurso. A sexualidade do adolescente no contexto da escola rural é atravessada por dispositivos que produzem o silenciamento. A construção da sexualidade é marcada pelos modelos biomédico, biológico e sexista que se exacerbam no contexto rural. É preciso reeducar o conceito de sexualidade como dimensão humanizadora e avançar na discussão sobre como a tecnologia e a mídia interferem nos modos de vida e na sexualidade dos adolescentes no contexto rural.

The context of this article is the interest in investigating the youth of Escolas Famílias Agrícolas (EFAs), since, in recent decades, Brazilian society has experienced the affirmation of youth as a political category and recipient of social actions. If rural youth also felt the impacts of this new political place, our curiosity fell on the academic production on the selected topic. To this end, a systematic literature review was carried out in the Scielo Platform database, with searches delimited between the years 2011 and 2021. The data were treated through descriptive graphs and tables. The thematic set of research indicates the persistence of historically recurring themes, but also points to the insertion of themes that accompany the issues brought about by the conquest of the new political place of the young category and that have been strengthened in recent years. However, the publication and, therefore, the communication of the researches to the society does not happen in accordance with the distribution of the educational experiences of the EFAs throughout the Brazilian territory. Overcoming this structural challenge requires the resumption of social and political processes that have been dismantled in recent years.
