RESUMO Objetivo Determinar a prevalência e os fatores associados à automedicação entre estudantes de enfermagem. Método Estudo transversal realizado com 116 estudantes de enfermagem de uma universidade pública do Estado do Amazonas – Brasil, no período de março a abril de 2014. Utilizou-se questionário constituído por variáveis socioeconômicas e de consumo de medicamentos. Foi realizada a análise bivariada e a regressão logística – nível de significância de 5%. Resultados A prevalência de automedicação foi de 76,0%, motivada especialmente pela percepção de que o problema de saúde não requeria visita ao médico (46,6%). Metade dos estudantes relataram queixas álgicas. Os grupos farmacológicos mais consumidos foram anti-inflamatórios não esteroides (63,2%) e antibióticos (11,1%). O desconhecimento das implicações negativas da prática da automedicação foi associado à automedicação (OR=6,0). Conclusão A alta prevalência de automedicação, além de poder levar a reações adversas retrata também o uso irracional de medicamentos pelos estudantes, especialmente, quando considerado o papel destes futuros profissionais na segurança do paciente.

Neuroblastoma is the most common cancer in babies and the third most common cancer in children, behind only leukemia and brain tumor. Knowing this, oncology has been working hard with research and equipment to bring the best possible treatment and diagnosis as quickly as possible to combat not only neuroblastoma but also all cancers that the individual may contract. When we speak of neuroblastoma, cancer that originates from cells of the nervous system, but we do not necessarily find the same in the nervous system since the embryonic process, the majority of which develop in the adrenal gland, so most tumors are found in the region of the abdomen, it can manifest itself in cells near the spinal cord, it can also develop in toxin. It is important to highlight that we cannot think of it as a tumor that manifests in the brain, it only originates in cells of the nervous system. PET / CT is a hybrid technique that combines the nuclear medicine examination of PET (positron emission tomography) with conventional computed tomography, associating metabolic and anatomical information and, thus, allowing diagnoses that are more accurate. The radiopharmaceutical most frequently used for this technology is 18F-FD, a glucose analog, whose accumulation depends on the glycolytic metabolism in the various organs and tissues; it is currently the most used with most of its applications in Oncology and has been shown the most effective for diagnosing cancer beforehand.

Bittencourt, Caponi, and Maluf 73 proposed a similar study in 2013, to analyze all editions of Goodman and Gilman's describing how pharmacology as a science was presented to students and practitioners throughout various editions of a textbook with world projection. Another pharmacology textbook written by a Brazilian author listed is Farmacologia Integrada 74 ("Integrated Pharmacology"), organized by Roberto DeLucia (latest edition in 2014), being the third one more used.…”

The pharmacology books used in teaching have changed considerably since late-nineteenth century. A professor of School of Pharmacy of Ouro Preto, Jovelino Mineiro, conceived the Curso de Pharmacologia (1925-1926), the first of its kind published in Brazil. To demonstrate its historical significance, we compared Mineiro’s compendium with Farmacologia, by Penildon Silva (2010), and with the first Brazilian Pharmacopeia (1926). Penildon Silva and Fuchs & Wannmacher are the most adopted Brazilian authors for teaching nowadays. Concerning the first Brazilian Pharmacopeia, it was possible to observe that Mineiro’s work may have been conceived to supply the lack of regulatory guidelines in Brazil at the time.
