“…Thus, the gender may respond differently to nutritional plans consisting of sequences of lysine during the growingfinishing phase (O'Connel et al, 2005). Because 70% of the swine herd are in the growing-finishing phase an economic reduction in the feed cost during that phase has a major impact on the total production cost (Scramim and Batalha, 2004). Therefore, the knowledge and the update of the lysine requirements for pigs is essential for the optimization of the production system.…”

“…The logistics activities connect the elements of the chain and, thus, logistics "is what happens in the chain" (Frazelle, 2002). The studies related to supply chain have raised the need for expanding the theory, bringing about the concept of supply chain management (Scramim & Batalha, 2004). This, in turn, emphasizes the need for integrating operations between producers, distributors, sellers and buyers, through activities such as management of raw materials and products, information, and capital aiming to meet the requirements imposed by the market (Borschiver, 1997;Castro, Lima, & Cristo, 2002;Teller, Kotzab, & Grant, 2011;Villa, 2001).…”
