Background Clarifying the effectiveness of co-teaching in medicine and nursing (CMN) is important as it is crucial in clinical practice to improve the quality of patient care and prognosis. In this study, we aimed to determine the efficacy of CMN in nurse anesthetist training. Method The study comprised a 6-month training session and a before-and-after controlled study. In total, 59 nurses were recruited. The first 30 nurses were enrolled in the conventional single-teaching in nursing (SN) group and only took nursing-related courses. The next 29 students were enrolled in the CMN group and received both general medical and nursing-specific curricula. Before and after training, medical and nursing collaboration competency scores and knowledge scores were compared between the two groups. At the end of the study, qualitative comments on teaching satisfaction and clinical reasoning skills improvement were queried, and content analysis was performed. Results Participants in the CMN group outperformed those in the SN group in tests of medical and nursing collaboration abilities as well as knowledge. The CMN group outperformed the SN group in terms of teaching satisfaction evaluation, particularly in terms of fostering learning in the anesthetist specialty, improving clinical practice, fostering motivation, and influencing how people think about challenges at work. Furthermore, participants in the CMN group felt that their clinical reasoning abilities had improved. Conclusion In comparison to the SN group, the CMN group had enhanced outcomes of patient care, medical and nursing collaboration, and clinical reasoning skills.

Objective: To investigate students' knowledge about breastfeeding in the first and fourth year of a Bachelor of Nursing course. Methods: An observational, transversal and descriptive study using a quantitative approach, developed in a public university in the state of São Paulo. The data collection instrument contained 25 questions, divided into seven blocks. The analysis was based on descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The research participants included 66 students from the first year and 64 from the fourth year. The mean score of students in first year was 9.9 questions and at the fourth year was 17.8 questions .000]). The students of the fourth year obtained higher scores in all blocks of questions. Conclusions: This confirms the need for greater efforts and incentives for the improvement of other opportunities during undergraduate studies, to facilitate students' improved performance, to act with confidence in practice to promote breastfeeding. Los objetivos de la presente investigación fueron verificar el conocimiento de los estudiantes de enfermería sobre el uso de alcohol y otras drogas, en especial lo relacionado a drogadicción, tolerancia, abstinencia e intoxicación; conocer las razones que los estudiantes atribuyen a la drogadicción y al inicio del uso de alcohol y otras drogas; y, el interés personal hacia el problema del consumo de drogas. Se utilizó un diseño exploratorio y descriptivo; la muestra estuvo compuesta por 44 estudiantes; se usó un cuestionario semiestructurado, construido por los investigadores con base en los objetivos propuestos, conteniendo preguntas abiertas y preguntas cerradas, totalizando 24 preguntas. Fueron seguidos los procedimientos éticos y los datos fueron sometidos a un análisis estadístico descriptivo. Se evidenció que el conocimiento de los estudiantes es todavía limitado, la comprensión, sobre las razones de los pacientes el uso y la dependencia, se mostraron incompletas, también se constató que el interés por la temática está presente.Descriptores: Bebidas Alcohólicas; Drogas Ilícitas; Estudiantes de Enfermería.
