This study evaluated the growth, yield, and postharvest quality of eggplant grown under different foliar fertilizer treatments with Spirufert® (Spirulina platensis). The treatments consisted of four fertilizer concentrations applied at four phenological stages: M1 (10, 15, 25, and 35 g L -1 ), M2 (15, 20, 30, and 40 g L -1 ), M3 (20, 25, 35, and 45 g L -1 ), and M4 (control plants, water spraying only). For Postharvest experiments were conducted in a 4 x 5 factorial design corresponding to the four treatments in the field experiment and five storage times. Spirufert® applied at lower concentrations (M1) resulted in greater fruit yield without affecting the foliar concentrations of N, P, K, and Na. Higher fertilizer concentrations (M3) increased vegetative growth but reduced eggplant yield. Fruit color parameters and soluble solids contents were not affected by fertilizer application, but pulp firmness was more stable in M1 fruits stored for up to six days. Key words: Solanum melongena. ResumoObjetivou-se avaliar o crescimento, a produção e a qualidade pós-colheita da berinjela em função de manejos (M) de aplicação foliar com Spirufert® (Spirulina platensis). Os manejos foram constituídos por quatro concentrações do produto, aplicadas em quatro fases fenológicas da cultura, sendo o M1 constituído por pulverizações nas concentrações de 10, 15, 25 e 35 g L -1 ; o M2 correspondeu às concentrações de 15, 20, 30 e 40 g L -1 ; o M3 por 20, 25, 35 e 45 e g L -1 e o M4 correspondeu à testemunha. Para o ensaio de pós-colheita, os tratamentos corresponderam a um esquema fatorial 4 x 5, correspondente aos quatro tratamentos originados do experimento de campo e cinco períodos de armazenamento. O Spirufert® aplicado em concentrações mais baixas (M1) proporciona maior produção de frutos, sem influenciar os teores foliares de N, P, K e Na da cultura. Concentrações mais elevadas do produto (M3) favorecem o desenvolvimento vegetativo da berinjela em detrimento da produção. O produto não afeta a cor do fruto nem seus sólidos solúveis, porém o manejo M1 proporciona maior estabilidade na firmeza dos frutos durante o seu armazenamento de até seis dias. ) e dois manejos de fertirrigação: com controle da condutividade elétrica da solução do solo (M1), e o tradicional (M2), obedecendo a curva de absorção de nutrientes da cultura. O delineamento estatístico adotado foi o de blocos casualizados completos, com quatro repetições, arranjados no esquema fatorial 6 x 2. Os resultados revelaram que os níveis de salinidade do solo afetaram diretamente as variáveis, produção de matéria seca, produção de frutos e índice de área foliar das plantas. Verificou-se que a redução média na produção da cultura da berinjela, em estufa, foi da ordem de 8,65% para o incremento de 1 dS m -1 na salinidade do solo, acima da salinidade limiar, que foi de 1,71 dS m -1 . ABSTRACT -The objective was to study the effects of different levels of soil salinity on the phenological variables and production of the eggplant when grown in pots in a protected environment. The study was carried out at the experimental site of the Department of Biosystems Engineering ESALQ/USP in Piracicaba, São Paulo. The treatments consisted of a combination of two factors: six initial levels of soil salinity (S1 = 1.3, S2 = 2.4, S3 = 3.6, S4 = 4.5, S5 = 5.6 and S6 = 6.4 dS m -1) and two fertigation management: with the electrical conductivity of the soil solution being controlled (M1) and traditional (M2), following the absorption curve of nutrients from the culture. The statistical design adopted was a randomized complete-block design with four replications, arranged in a 6 x 2 factorial. The results showed that the levels of soil salinity directly affected the variables of dry-matter production, fruit production and leaf-area index of the plants. It was found that the average reduction in yield of the eggplant crop in a greenhouse, was approximately 8.65% for an increase of 1 dS m -1 in the salinity of the soil above the threshold salinity of 1.71 dS m -1 .

RESUMOOs efeitos de diferentes tensões de água no solo aplicadas em dois estádios fenológicos da cultura da berinjela (Solanum melongena L.) foram avaliados por meio de dois experimentos, ambos conduzidos em um delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado com 5 tratamentos e 6 repetições. Os tratamentos se constituíram de 5 diferentes tensões de água no solo: 15, 30, 45, 60 e 80 kPa. Os resultados permitiram concluir que efeitos significativos foram encontrados para todas as variáveis analisadas apenas quando os tratamentos foram aplicados na fase de formação de frutos/colheita, demonstrando que esta fase é mais sensível à escassez de água no solo, prejudicando o desenvolvimento da cultura; obtiveram-se maiores produções com irrigação realizada sob a tensão de 15 kPa. The results showed significant efects on all the analysed variables only when treatments were applied in the fruit formation/harvest phase, showing that this phase is more sensitive to soil water tensions and which damages crop development. The best yields were obtained with irrigation carried out under 15 kPa tension.
