“…Este fato é um retrato decorrente do abandono de áreas mais difíceis de serem cultivadas, do maior rigor da legislação e também da conscientização dos proprietários sobre a importância das florestas para o meio ambiente e como mais uma fonte de renda. Hendges et al (2012), estudando a dinâmica das áreas de floresta nativa do Rio Grande do Sul, encontraram como resultado que o crescimento de áreas do uso referente às florestas nativas novas e regeneradas, ao longo dos últimos 20 anos, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, corresponde a um crescimento médio de 1,15% por década de análise, em relação à área total desse Estado, ou seja, um ganho de aproximadamente 3.237,8 km 2 de florestas nativas a cada dez anos. Isso demonstra que esse Estado está em processo de recuperação de áreas florestais, suprindo uma carência de áreas nativas, as quais, em 2007, constituíam apenas 15% da área total.…”
