Show more

“…The association evaluated in this test involved an organophosphate and a pyrethroid. Some published reports concerning the efficacy of this type of association can be found, as it could be seen that in Bahia State, municipality of Ilhéus, the efficacy was of about 75.73% (CAMPOS JUNIOR;OLIVEIRA, 2005) and efficiency ranged from 40.38% to 76.81% in Ibiúna, State of Sao Paulo (MENDES et al, 2007). In addition, in the present study, this association was not able to produce good levels of efficiency.…”

“…Chemical control of ticks has been characterized by continuous increase of resistance, with consequent increase in the frequency of acaricides application and the presence of residues of these products in milk and meat (VARGAS et al, 2003;CAMPOS JUNIOR;OLIVEIRA, 2005;MENDES, 2005). A chemical base tick must present more than 95% efficacy on a sensitive strain of R.…”

“…The first amitraz-resistant cattle-tick population in Brazil was detected in 1994, subsequently, cases of resistance have been reported in other parts of this country (CAMPOS JÚNIOR. ;OLIVEIRA, 2005;ANDREOTTI et al, 2011;VEIGA et al, 2012). In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, several cases of resistance have been reported (VARGAS et al, 2003;CAMILLO et al, 2009;SANTOS et al, 2009).…”

“…However, the indiscriminate use of these substances has been conducted to the appearance of several cases of tick resistance (Arantes et al, 1995). This phenomenon has been widely reported (Li et al, 2004;Rosado-Aguilar et al, 2008), including various descriptions in Brazil (Campos Júnior;Oliveira, 2005;Gomes et al, 2011), where there are reports in Rio Grande do Sul (Patarroyo;Costa, 1980), Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo (Leite et al, 1995), São Paulo (Soares et al, 2001), Bahia and Pernambuco (Santana et al, 2013).…”

“…microplus population studied. Percentages of inefficacy ranging from 30.95 to 88.75% have been reported in Bahia, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and São Paulo (Arantes et al, 1995;Santana et al, 2001;Campos-Júnior;Oliveira, 2005;Mendes et al, 2007). Conversely, few studies report the efficacy of this compound (e.g., 98.13%, Mendes et al, 2007) as observed herein for the populations of Timbaúba and Limoeiro.…”
