FATOR DE FORMA ARTIFICIAL DE Pinus elliottii Engelm PARA A REGIÃO DA SERRA DO SUDESTE DO ESTADO DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Show more

“…Trees that were four years old had a form factor of 0.79, whereas the form factor dropped to 0.5 at 16 years old, demonstrating tapering trend and, consequently, form factor value reduction. Drescher et al (2001) found the same behavior for 20 years-old Pinus elliottii Engelm.…”

“…Another possibility would be to model the form factor in relation to dbh (Drescher et al, 2001;Souza et al, 2008), although it would also require to use regression, which is very accessible today, but not always used by researchers, who prefer simpler methods. In addition, unsatisfactory results with the fittings were reported in studies with Pinus taeda (Souza et al, 2008) using the approach of this study.…”

“…In contrast, Model 2 stands out as the one with the best indicators of precision and adjustment in relation to the adjusted coefficient of determination and the standard error of estimate. This model showed R² ajus values similar to the best adjustments observed by Drescher et al (2001) for form factor equations for P. elliottii, and inferior to the form factor adjustments for teak obtained by Drescher et al (2010). Regarding S yx %, the obtained values were similar.…”

“…Starting at 4 years of age, the form factor begins to decline, reaching its lowest value (0.58) at 18 years of age. Through the study of form factors, it is possible to observe trends in trees where diameter increases over time, acquiring a more cylindrical form, as also observed in P. elliottii by Drescher et al (2001). Figueiredo et al (2005) reported a declining form factor in teak as tree age increases.…”

O Ktze.)…”
