Novos marcadores biológicos na pneumonia comunitária grave

Abstract: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is the most common infectious disease requiring admission to intensive care units (ICUs), and achieving an early and precise diagnosis of CAP remains a challenge. Biomarkers play an important role in improving clinical judgment in the emergency room and are adjuvant in evaluating treatment responses. Novel biomarkers, such as cortisol, pro-adrenomedullin and endothelin-1, have been shown to be associated with disease severity and short-term outcomes. This review article focus… Show more

“…Beyond CRP and PCT there is growing evidence for other biomarkers in sCAP, nonetheless, their clinical usefulness remains poor. 24 Liu et al published a systematic review and meta-analysis aiming to evaluate the prognostic value of MR-proADM in patients with CAP. The eight studies with a total of 4,119 patients at the emergency department setting showed that high MR-proADM levels were significantly associated mortality (Relative risk (RR): 6.16, 95 % CI: 4.71-8.06).…”
