New titanium(IV) and vanadium(IV) haloalkoxides: synthetic route and structural characterisation

“…While a number of TiCl x OR 4− x compounds have been structurally characterized, only a hand-full of systems have produced non-solvated species, including [Cl 2 (OR)Ti(μ-OR)] 2 where OR = OEt, OC 6 H 5 , OC 6 H 4 (Bu t )-4, and some bidentate ligands (propane-1,3-diolalto and 3,3′-dimethyl-1,1′-bi-2-naphtholato). Some simple HOR solvated compounds have also been isolated such as, [(HOR)Cl 2 (OR)Ti(μ-OR)] 2 where OR = OPr i27 , OCH 2 CH 2 Cl,[(HOPr i )Cl 2 (OPr i )Ti(μ-Cl)] 2 27 , [(HOPr i )Cl 2 (OPr i )Ti(μ-OPr i )] 2 27 , and [(HOPr i )Cl(OPr i ) 2 Ti(μ-OPr i )] 2 .
