RESUMENEstudio que objetivó verificar la ocurrencia de incontinencia urinaria (IU) y sus características en ancianos pre-frágiles y frágiles atendidos en ambulatorio de geriatría, comparar la presencia de criterios de fragilidad entre ancianos con y sin IU e identificar entre los criterios de fragilidad la chance de riesgo para IU en estos ancianos. Participaron del estudio 100 ancianos, con edad media de 76,2 años; 65 ancianos refirieron IU, 71,3% de ellos presentaban tres o más criterios de fragilidad. La ocurrencia de IU fue superior en ancianos frágiles (p=0,0011). El análisis multivariado mostró que los criterios lentitud (OR=4,99) y agotamiento (OR=4,85) presentaron relación estadística-mente significativa con IU. La ocurrencia de IU fue elevada y aquellos ancianos con lentitud tienen chance de riesgo casi cinco veces mayor de presentar IU, y los que refieren agotamiento tienen chance de riesgo cinco veces mayor de IU comparados con los que no presentan esos criterios. Nurse Care Open Acces J 2017, 3(5): 00085 her quality of life.The most common types of UTI are: stress (SUI) where there is involuntary loss of urine to the exertion, for example when coughing or sneezing; (UUI) where there is a sudden urge to urinate and there is no control over the detrusor muscle; And mixed (IUM) when the two forms are associated [3]. Therefore, this study aims to analyze in scientific productions the nursing care aimed at female urinary incontinence and to identify in scientific productions the impacts caused by urinary incontinence in women's lives. MethodA qualitative, bibliographical research was carried out in the form of an integrative review of the literature, whose purpose is to gather and summarize the scientific knowledge already produced on the subject investigated, that is, to search, evaluate and synthesize the available evidence to contribute with the development of knowledge on the subject [4].To guide the research, the following question was asked: What was produced in the literature on nursing care in female urinary incontinence? The research was carried out from December to January 2017 and the search in publications indexed in the following databases: Nursing Database (BDENF), and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and in the Electronic library Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) [5]. We chose these databases and library because they understand the literature published in Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as Brazilian scientific-technical references in nursing and include periodicals from the health area. Female, Urinary Incontinence, Quality of life and Rehabilitation were used as descriptors [6].After the research question was raised, the following inclusion criteria were established: All articles published by nurses, available in full in national journals, indexed in the electronic databases, addressing nursing care to women with urinary incontinence and the impact on their Lives. Exclusion criteria defined the articles that are not related to the nursing area. Only 08 correspond to the research question, so they are part of the study in question [7]. Results and discussionAfter analyzing the articles, two categories emerged: nursing care for women with urinary incontinence and the impact of urinary incontinence on women's lives. From then on, we proceed to the analysis of the selected articles, those that contribute to the achievement of the objectives proposed in the study. Nursing care for women with urinary incontinenceThe nurse as an important professional in the care of women with urinary incontinence should act as an educator, provide psycho-emotional support and stimulate behavioral treatment. Objective: To assess the scientific literature on urinary elimination in nursing journals published in Brazil. Methods: An integrative literature review was used to review the databases MEDLINE, LILACS and Web of Science. The authors used 30 descriptors to search for articles published between the years 1999 to 2009, resulting in a total of 18 articles that met criteria and which were published by nurses. The papers were analyzed using a data collection instrument to identify journal name, year of publication, type of study, subject matter, and level of evidence. Results: Eighteen studies were classified as Level of Evidence IV; urinary incontinence was the most frequent theme in the articles analyzed. Conclusion: While the clinical practice of nurses was integrated into articles addressing changes in urinary elimination, we found that this topic was narrowly defined, studies used lower level research designs, and it was noted that few authors published on the topic. All of these findings indicate the importance of greater investment in nursing research in this area of nursing knowledge and practice.
