The present study aimed to investigate the dimensionality of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), in its version of 14 and 10 items (PSS-14 and PSS-10), in a sample of professors from the Federal University of Viçosa (N = 222). An exploratory factorial analysis using the principal components method, with varimax rotation, indicated the solution with two factors as the most adjusted to the data, confirming previous studies. In relation to PSS-14, the items had adequate factor loads and the retained factor explained 58% of the common variance of the scores, presenting internal consistency (α = 0.89). In relation to PSS-10, the items had adequate factor loads and the retained factor explained 54% of the common variance of the scores, presenting internal consistency (α = 0.87). In the end, it was found that there were satisfactory adjustments for the two versions of the PSS in its two-factor model, with the 14-item scale being the harmonic solution, considering the relationship between parsimony in the quantity of items and the statistical robustness of this instrument. The results showed that the teaching career is one of the most stressful activities among the professions studied, demanding public policies that balance the teaching career, combating the incidence of stress and other emerging diseases in this professional category.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the occupational stress presence and levels in professional of the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) of a municipality in Northeast Brazil. Method: It is a descriptive and investigative research, with the application of a questionnaire. The researched material was 30 professionals. A semi-structured interview technique for data collection and descriptive statistical analysis were used, using percentage calculation and presentation of results in tables. Results: As the scientific enterprise product here effected, it is highlighted that 40% of respondents are nurses, male, with service time ranging between 2 and 3 years (40%) and working hours between 40 and 60hours weekly (36.7%). After analyzing the results that identify the symptoms of stress in professionals interviewed, it could be seen that the verbalized symptoms are related to problems in the musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal and nervous systems, as well as sleep problems Conclusions: According to this data, it is believed that the adoption of mitigation measures of stress with the administrative interventions, adopting a preventive culture, aiming to occupational safety and health professional is very importance to improve the quality of life of these people.

O internato médico pode gerar estresse ocupacional, afetando a saúde física e mental, o que pode influenciar a qualidade de vida destes estudantes. Este estudo transversal objetivou analisar a qualidade de vida e o estresse ocupacional em estudantes de Medicina matriculados no último ano de internato médico. A amostra foi composta por 302 estudantes com média de idade de 25,3 ± 2,4 anos de universidades públicas e privadas de Santa Catarina, os quais responderam a um questionário autoaplicável. Por meio da estatística descritiva e inferencial, constatou-se que a pontuação média atribuída à qualidade de vida nos internos foi maior que a pontuação média do estresse ocupacional, e 80% das mulheres apresentaram escores altos (80,7%) no domínio social da qualidade de vida. Na análise do estresse ocupacional, o nível de estresse foi maior em homens (43,7%) na demanda de controle (autoridade sobre decisões), com 6,1%, não havendo diferença significativa nos escores de qualidade de vida e estresse ocupacional entre os sexos. Os estudantes apresentam qualidade de vida positiva, embora estejam submetidos a níveis elevados de estresse.
