[ARTIGO PARCIALMENTE RETRATADO]: Propriedades psicométricas do Maslach Burnout Inventory em uma amostra multifuncional

Objective: to identify associations between the Burnout domains and the characteristics of the work environment. Method: cross-sectional study with 745 nurses from 40 public health institutions in São Paulo. Nursing Work Index-Revised (NWI-R) and Maslach Burnout Inventory were used. Similar institutions according to NWI-R were grouped by clustering and the Anova and Bonferroni tests were used in the comparative analyzes. Results: there was signifi cant and moderate correlation between emotional exhaustion and autonomy, control over the environment and organizational support; between reduced personal accomplishment, autonomy and organizational support; and between depersonalization and autonomy. The group that presented the worst conditions in the work environment differed on emotional exhaustion from the group with most favorable traits. Conclusion: emotional exhaustion was the trait of Burnout that was more consistently related to the group of institutions with more unfavorable working conditions regarding autonomy, organizational support and control over the environment. RESUMO Objetivo: identifi car associações entre os domínios do Burnout e as características do ambiente de trabalho. Método: estudo transversal com 745 enfermeiros de 40 instituições públicas de saúde de São Paulo. Nursing Work Index-Revised (NWI-R) e Maslach Burnout Inventory foram utilizados. Instituições semelhantes, segundo NWI-R, foram agrupadas pelo método de Cluster e os testes Anova e Bonferroni foram aplicados nas análises comparativas. Resultados: houve correlação signifi cativa e moderada entre exaustão emocional e autonomia, controle sobre o ambiente e suporte organizacional; baixa realização pessoal e autonomia, e suporte organizacional; despersonalização e autonomia. O grupo que apresentou as piores condições de ambiente de trabalho diferiu do que teve os mais favoráveis atributos quanto à exaustão emocional. Conclusão: a exaustão emocional foi o traço do Burnout que se relacionou de forma mais constante com o grupo de instituições com condições mais desfavoráveis de trabalho quanto à autonomia, suporte organizacional e controle sobre o ambiente. ResumoEsta pesquisa de levantamento objetivou investigar a prevalência da síndrome de Burnout nos profi ssionais de enfermagem de um hospital e de Unidades Básicas de Saúde, comparando-a entre as três categorias profi ssionais (enfermeiros, técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem) e os tipos de serviços, e identifi cou seus fatores sociodemográfi cos e ocupacionais preditores. A amostra foi composta por 116 profi ssionais, entre 21 e 60 anos (M = 37,26 anos; DP = 8,56), de ambos os gêneros, de um município de médio porte de Minas Gerais, que responderam ao Inventário de Burnout de Maslach e a um Questionário Sociodemográfi co e Ocupacional. Observou-se uma alta prevalência da síndrome (47%), e um grande número de trabalhadores em risco de adoecimento (entre 41% a 49% da amostra, dependendo da dimensão do Burnout). Não houve diferenças signifi cativas em função das categorias profi ssionais e locais de trabalho. As variáveis ocupacionais "problemas de relacionamento com colegas de trabalho" (OR = 3) e "insatisfação com o trabalho" (OR = 11) foram as preditoras da síndrome (p < 0,05). As variáveis sociodemográfi cas não foram signifi cativas. Este estudo contribui para a discussão sobre o processo de desenvolvimento do Burnout em profi ssionais de enfermagem, ajudando a planejar medidas preventivas de doenças ocupacionais e programas de intervenção nos serviços de saúde. AbstractThis survey research aimed to investigate the prevalence of the Burnout syndrome in nursing professionals of a hospital and Basic Health Units, comparing it among the three professional categories (nurses, nursing technicians and nursing assistants) and types of services, and to identify socio--demographic and occupational factors associated with its occurrence. The sample was composed of 116 professionals, between 21 and 60 years old (M = 37.26 years; SD = 8.56), of both genders, from a medium-sized city of Minas Gerais, who fulfi ll the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the socio--demographic and occupational questionnaire. There was a high prevalence of the syndrome (47%) and a large number of workers at risk of illness (between 41% and 49% of the sample according to the dimension of Burnout). There were no signifi cant differences between the professional categories and workplaces. The occupational variables "relationship problems with co-workers" (OR = 3) and "non--satisfaction with the job" (OR = 11) were the syndrome predictors (p < .05). The socio-demographic variables were not signifi cant. This study contributes to the discussion about Burnout developing process among nursing professionals, helping to plan preventive measures of occupational diseases and intervention programs in health services.

Background: Burnout syndrome (BS) is a set of psychological symptoms resulting from the interaction between chronic occupational stress and individual factors. These symptoms include emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and decreased professional satisfaction. BS is manifested in a variety of professions and is prevalent in contexts in which health professionals are required to interact directly with the public. Objective: To determine the prevalence of BS among medical students at a university in Ceará State, Brazil. Methods: Of the 517 students enrolled in their first to eighth semester in 2013, 376 (72.7%) were contacted. A socio-economic evaluation questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory -Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) were administered. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 20.0. Two groups -burnout/risk and non-burnout -were compared using the chi-square and likelihood ratio tests with a significance level of 5%. Variables with p < 0.20 were included in a multivariate analysis logistical regression model. Results: Burnout was detected in 14.9% of the students, and 57.7% showed a risk of developing the syndrome. Logistic regressions showed an association between burnout and "have failed examinations" and "have considered abandoning the course", p = 0.047 and p < 0.0001, respectively. Discussion: Psychopedagogy should be implemented to address the high prevalence of burnout in medical students.
