Use of models in surgical predictability of oral rehabilitations

Abstract: Purpose:To evaluate the rehabilitation of edentulous mandibles with osseous integrated implants in immediate loading, using models in reverse planning. Methods: A prospective study was performed on 14 patients with a total of 56 implants placed. It was proposed a technique for the rehabilitation of edentulous mandible with osseous integrated implants of immediate loading, using anatomical replicas derived from computerized tomography scan linked to the rapid prototyping technique of stereolithography in revers… Show more

“…In mentioning the advantages of using 3-D models in their research, Curcio et al, [20] showed that the use of 3-D models has proven to greatly decrease surgical operating time, decrease time under general anesthesia, and decrease wound exposure time. The cumulative effect has produced better patient care, improved colleague communication and more predictable and accurate surgical results.…”

“…Esse procedimento pode ser desenvolvido em pacientes com limitação de abertura bucal, desconforto, lesões e sangramento 45 . Entretanto, a estabilidade da guia cirúrgica é reduzida em modelos dentados 36 . Na ortodontia, a colagem de bráquetes através da técnica de prototipagem rápida tem a vantagem de reduzir o tempo clínico do Ortodontista e posicionar o bráquete no elemento dentário com mais precisão.…”

“…Prior knowledge of bone quantity, volume and position can facilitate surgical procedures and reduce treatment morbidity in cases of autologous bone grafts, as well as facilitating treatment planning in cases of xenografts (2). Advances in tomography image technology and reconstruction software have made it possible to generate three-dimensional anatomical structures based on high resolution computerized axial tomography (CAT scans) (3).…”
