Casuística e Métodos: Quarenta e cinco (74,1%) pacientes eram do sexo feminino e 17 (25,7%) pacientes do masculino. A idade média foi de 32,9 anos. Moléstia reumática esteve presente na maioria dos … Show more

“…In this study, functional class improved signifi cantly between the pre-and postoperative phases, as shown in Fig. 2, confi rming the results of former studies [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23] . Antunes et al 20 analyzed patients with rheumatic disease, and of all the patients formerly classifi ed as FC III or IV, 85% became FC I.…”

“…These results are similar to those indicated by other studies 17 that showed the predominance of a mild murmur during the postoperative phase with an improvement in 93% of the cases, in comparison with the preoperative period. Carvalho et al 23 demonstrated that 92.4% of all patients evaluated presented predominantly with just a mild murmur or no murmur at all during the postoperative phase.…”

“…[12] and Gillinov et al [13] advocate the use of prosthetic rings for quadrangular resection in order to stabilize the posterior mitral ring avoiding it to dilate again, thus augmenting the durability of mitral valve repair. In our clinical setting, Gregory et al [14] and Carvalho et al [15] also advocate the use of prosthetic rings in mitral valve repair with outstanding outcomes. However, as we demonstrated in this series, the survival freedom of reoperation at 10 years was 99.2% ± 0.8, which corroborates the durability of the mitral valve repair with this technique.…”
