Abstract

APRESENTAÇÃOTomando o marco clássico da "geração de 1870", o pensamento social brasileiro acumula quase um século e meio de produção que constitui um significativo acervo de conhecimento sobre o país. Qualitativamente, é claro, há altos e baixos. Porém, das inegáveis contribuições dos pensadores do fim do século XIX, descontados seus equívocos teóricos, até as investigações que hoje são feitas sobre a compreensão do Brasil no contexto da contemporaneidade, o saldo é francamente positivo.
